The Founder and principal
I am the mother of 8 years old Nimoé who has cerebral palsy and epilepsy.
I founded this school as a result of my own experience with my daughter. Nimoé has cerebral palsy. She has physical barriers to learning but her cognitive functions are relatively high. I struggled to identify a schooling environment in the northern suburbs that would develop her cognitive abilities further, keep her motivated and interested in learning while strengthening, developing and accommodating her physical limitations. Nimoé fell into a window that neither mainstream schools nor special needs school environments currently cater for. This situation motivated me to create a small, exclusive learning environment.
The journey in the “SpiritedKidZ” world has started with a return to learning with a serious motivation; i.e. to assist and nurture my daughter to grow at the physical, mental, psychological, spiritual and financial dimensions. I met veteran pioneers who left me in awe and inspired me to empower myself with knowledge, so that I can now craft a bright future for the SpiritedKidZ.
Since the birth of Nimoé, I have extensively trained in Child Development in terms of gross motor, fine motor and speech. I have practised the skills I have been taught and learned on my daughter, under the supervision of the respective professionals. Along the way, I met the world of Sensory Integration and explored all its facets. The development of my child also precipitated me into the world of epilepsy and ADD/ADHD aspects. I have learned and practised filial play with my child. I have investigated neurotherapy and as my daughter responded extremely well to this non-invasive approach, I invested in it.
I regularly attend workshops and seminars to understand the complexity of the learning differences our SpiritedKidZ experience. In this process, I dedicate time to investigate the accessible remediations, locally or overseas.
The senior teacher regularly sets small achievable goals and she evaluates the progress on an ongoing basis, in order to meet the SpiritedKidZ specific learning needs. My role consists of integrating and supervising the required therapies to support the development of the SpiritedKidZ.
My initial background is in Communication-Linguistics; specializing in translation/interpretation French, English and German. Later, I defended a thesis at the Faculty of Educational Psychology, dealing with the cultural and psychological impacts created by multilinguism. The major subjects of my thesis covered Education, French and Arabic languages. I also have a marketing and Information Technology background. Before Nimoé, I was a Sales & Marketing manager, for 15 years, in the field of fiber optic technology, IT data mining and business intelligence.
